Since you’re here, I assume you are a coach or healer with an idea for a book that needs to be written. If you’re like most writers, you also worry you don’t have what it takes to write it, or even that you aren’t allowed to write one.
I’m here to help you see that you don’t need permission to write your book. You need to write a book to own and establish your authority in your field. Don’t be scared off by the ‘expert’ or ‘authority’ label–everyone is an expert in or authority on something.
There has never been a better time to write and publish a book. Self-publishing makes it more accessible than ever, and though how people consume text is changing, people are reading more than ever. For too long, though, publishing has been dominated by men in traditional positions of power. We’re going to change that.
To return to my opening point, you’re right that your book needs to be written. You’re wrong to doubt your ability to write it. Of course it’s scary at times, but you don’t have to do it alone! In my blog, I will will share tips and tricks to help with researching your topic, organising your ideas, and finding time to write.
The tips and tricks I share here are tried and tested. I am a writer and an entrepreneur – I know what you’re up against and can help you share your ideas with the world.

I have a PhD in English Literature from the University of California at Davis (UCD). During my PhD, I was trained to teach writing and research (2001), and I’ve been helping people become happier, more confident writers ever since! Before I became a writing coach, I taught university level writing and research for more than 12 years at US and UK universities: UCD, Canterbury Christ Church University, and the University of Portsmouth.
I’m also a published author. My most recently published article is called ‘Boxes, Bottles, and Death: Collecting and Medical Reform in The Mill on the Floss‘. Since leaving academia and starting my own businesses (I also run the Writer’s Agency), I’ve started writing for a wider audience. My book There’s a Book in Every Expert (that’s you): How to write your credibility building book in six months will be out in May 2020. I’m also putting together sample chapters and a proposal for a book on how the Victorians responded to the introduction of anaesthesia to send to literary agents by early next year. This book will be for a general audience; if you like Victorians Undone: Tales of the Flesh in the Age of Decorum by Kathryn Hughes or The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister’s Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine by Lindsey Fitzharris, you’ll like the book I’m writing.
In addition to this, I’m an experienced editor and proofreader. I’ve edited all sorts of text from academic articles on the DNA of a particular kind of tree in China to website copy (not quite A to Z, but close!). You’ll find testimonials for my editing work here.
